Platinum service for the Queen's Jubilee

28 February 2022 | News

Erewash Labour councillors at the next full meeting of the borough council will submit a motion formally congratulating Her Majesty The Queen on celebrating her platinum jubilee on behalf of residents.

We will officially mark this achievement, the only one in British history, within the councils records.

Councillor Denise Mellors, leader of the Labour group, said:

“This Jubilee is a once in a lifetime occurrence and the first one ever in British history. It is right, therefore, that the council formally acknowledges seven decades of unparalleled public service to our country as part of our own borough’s history. We think the council should mark this occasion with a permanent memorial of this event that can be enjoyed by the community for generations to come.”

Her Majesty The Queen celebrated 70 years since she became Queen on 6th February, which was the anniversary of the death of her father, King George VI, who died in 1952 aged 56.
