The hunt for mid-October residents in Long Eaton
23 October 2019
Following our Saturday door knocking session in Cotmanhay, on Sunday afternoon our prospective parliamentary candidate, Catherine Atkinson, and Erewash Borough Councillors, Denise, Caroline, Gordon, Howard and Margaret met at the Tappers Harker pub to go door knocking in Long Eaton Central ward.
As we were walking to our first street to be canvassed, Howard, a life-long railwayman, discussed origins of the pub name – “Tappers Harker” (Of course he did).
We canvassed a number of streets including Trafalgar Square, Trafalgar Terrace, Chapel Street, Greenside Close, Belfield Gardens, South Street and Southfields.
It was a cold and wet afternoon but we received a warm welcome on the doors.
Why don’t you join us next time? We go canvassing every weekend, sometimes twice or three times so there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved. And we might even tell you the origin of the pub name Tappers Harker!
