March for Ilkeston Community Hospital
30 August 2019
Today, Erewash Labour members joined campaigners from the Protect Ilkeston Community Hospital campaign group in a march through the town.
Protesters began at Ilkeston hospital and marched through the town in peaceful protest, ending at Ilkeston marketplace. There was lots of support from the passing public, with horns honnking all the way through Ilkeston in response to the protestors signs and banners.
The march ended in the marketplace and a number of speeches were made by members of the community about cuts to Ilkeston hospital and the NHS in general. Erewash Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate, Catherine Atkinson, also contributed a speech, denouncing cuts made by this Conservative government as the primary cause behind the closures in Ilkeston.
