Ilkeston community hospital protest to health bosses
1 August 2019
Grassroots campaigners from Erewash Labour Party, Protect Ilkeston Community Hospital, Keep our NHS Public and other local groups demonstrated their opposition to planned further cuts in bed provision at Ilkeston Hospital this morning at Toll Bar House, prior to a meeting of the Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
Campaigners vowed to continue their resistance to these planned cuts, chanting “Save Our Beds” to the support of passing motorists, hooting in agreement.
At the time of writing, a petition, started by Ilkeston resident, Bradd Farnsworth, has so far garnered 1925 signatures and further activity is planned on Saturday morning on Ilkeston Market place.
The cuts, originally denied by the local MP, are in their final consultation stage, but the opposition to this further loss to our much loved local hospital, remains strong and determined.
